POOL TABLE |
This is our new pool table. The table was custom built in New York in 1902. The gentleman that commissioned the build owned a Hotel/Barber Shop/Pool hall in Alabama. The table resided there until the owners death in 1947. The hotel was sold and this table, along with 5 others, were crated up and put into storage. In in the early 70's a grandson of the deceased gentleman learned of the tables and took possession of the them, moved them to Florida and sold 3 of the 5 tables. He kept a 6 foot table and this 9 foot tournament table. We purchased the table in 2009. After installing the wood floor we called a professional to move the table from the house in Ocala to our house in Anthony. I documented the move with the pictures below.
The table was moved in one piece to maintain the
structural integrity of the base. |
All the pins in the table were checked and reset in
case anything worked loose during the move. |

The slate was installed and leveled. This process took the longest, about one and a half hours.
The felt was installed, stretched and secured to the underpinning. |
The table installed and playing pool. In the picture above you can see one of the most unusual aspects of this table. A 5' long drawer that holds cues, balls and racks. The table still needs to a good cleaning and wax but that can wait a while--RACK-EM! |
