3/15/2010 Great Day!

March 15, 2010 10:24 by pphipps

Hi Guys it's early Monday evening and all are well here.  Took Dad today to have a chest x-ray and one of the therapist came to see him boy, it was a busy day.  Our weather is beautiful I think it was 65 degrees when I logged on and nice & sunny outside.  We still have the golden retriever that showed up over the weekend at the house he is a wonderful dog but we don't need another one.  We've been in touch with the GR association and they are making arrangements to get him from us so they can place him in a good home.  He is wonderful and so nicely mannered but we don't need another dog that's for certain.

Actually nothing new going on, same stuff different day.  Gym work-out was good, and Pat had some good racquetball games but the day has come & gone.  Time to fix a bite to eat I'll blog again tomorrow.

Hugs,

Patty

3/12/2010 Friday 69 Degrees

March 12, 2010 05:40 by pphipps

Hey guys just thought I'd update you on our weather and household events.  As you can see it's 69 degrees and the humidity is up but at least it's warmer then it has been.  We've had rain again today but it is suppose to end early evening late afternoon and a nice weekend is in store.  I know we needed the rain desperately but I'm now ready for warm sunshine again.

Off tomorrow for football sign-ups (1st of 2 weekends) the players that want to return from last year get the first opportunity this weekend to register then next weekend its first come first serve.  They do things differently here but I guess it works for them.  Pat & I are off tomorrow to work the sign ups while the head coach does the inside work before they report outside to us.  Guess we'll see tomorrow how it goes we're looking forward to meeting some of the players that we haven't spoken with yet.

Dad's doing his normal in his chair reading & listening to CNN, Pat's at the warehouse I don't know what he's doing and I thought I'd drop you guys a note before I get the rest of the laundry out of the dryer & fix a bite of lunch.  We've been to the grocery store & ran a couple of errands so I think I'll make lunch & enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Hopefully you'll have a nice sunny weekend with warmer temperatures then freezing.  Remember we love & miss everyone.  I'll post after football sign-ups tomorrow.

Hugs & Kisses,

Patty

3/11/2010 Thursday

March 11, 2010 10:04 by pphipps

yep, Thursday already this week.  Nothing new around here, we have had unbelievable pouring and I mean pouring rain today.  I swear there are nothing but puddles on the streets & a lot of the property has standing water.  We're fortunate only a little standing rain where you come in the drive way and by late afternoon it was absorbed by the dry ground.  We really can't complain it has been so dry here that we definately needed the rain.  I have my fingers crossed that more of the dead looking lawn will rejuvinate and be green again.  Some of it is starting to change but I think this heavy rain is what we needed to start more changes.  We're off this weekend to the landscape show so we should find out what to do and when we can do it.  I actually think the freeze is over the the year - thank GOD.

Gym work-out today was off for me, I had my hair done while Patrick played racquetball.  The Courts were so damp that they couldn't play but a couple of games then they threw in the towel the floors were far to wet & someone was likely to get hurt.  The rain should be gone today & hopefully next week the courts will improve.  I miss my work-out when I get my hair done but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Dad's asleep in his chair I need to wake him so he can make some cornbread to go with dinner tonight.  I'll blog tomorrow after our normal grocery shopping routine.  We miss & love you guys.

Hugs & Kisses,

Patty

3/10/2010 Wednesday Great Day

March 10, 2010 09:07 by pphipps

Yaho it's 79 degrees outside, sunny, & bright - I'm so glad Spring has sprung on us.  I understand MD was in the 50's yesterday that's quite an improvement you go guys can't wait until Spring is there for you too:)  This has been a hectic week, went to the vets with Hank, gym, store, drug store, it seems like it's been non-stop all week.  This weekend we have returning players sign-up for the football team, and a plant/lawn show at the Youth Center which is always a great event.  In light of this terrible cold we have to replace our fruit trees so we're hoping to get lots of information at the show.  I think I mentioned a couple of months ago that we plan on redoing the entrance to our property so we also hope to get some planting information on "minimum" maintenance plants.  I hope we can get it started before it gets to hot outside to work.

Dad's been doing okay.  He has a nurse coming a couple of times a week and starting next week he is going to have physical/occupational therapy at home.  The intention is to try to get him to move around a little so he can breathe better.  I know it's normal but I hate to see him just sit in his chair & do NOTHING, we have our fingers crossed that the PT will help him motivate around a little and maybe help him feel better.

Pat's at the shop doing something with his wood lathe and Sam from the club is on his way over with his trailer so Pat can take a look at it and hopefully fix the leaks that it has.  Like I said, never ending there doesn't seem to be a day that there isn't something to do.

Well, I think I'll fix the coffee pot for tomorrow AM & get ready to do something around the house.  Promise to blog again tomorrow.  Sunshine, hugs, & kisses - remember we love & miss everyone.

Love,

Patty

Sunday 3/7 Warming - Up

March 7, 2010 04:00 by pphipps

Yea, it's already 63 degrees and it's only 11:00AM - thank God for the sunshine.  We are going to have temps near 80's later this week - can't wait for the change it is well over due.  I think we're going to ride dueling tractors today and get the grass (or should I say weeds) cut.  I know my tractor misses being used and I sure have missed having to cut the grass.  I know in a month or so I'll be dreading the cutting but today I'm looking forward to putting on my I-Pod and cutting away.

Racquetball tournament worked out pretty good for Pat & Donnie I think they played 3 rounds before they got put out.  All of us had a good time and they played great - go guys we're proud of you.  After the tournament we left and had lunch together it was a nice lunch with wonderful friends.  In case any of the fellow "weight" challenge group is wondering, we all had salad for lunch so Pat & Donnie didn't blow the diet -sorry:):)

Well, I think I'll change my clothes & get ready to cut some grass - YA HO:):)  I'll blog later.

Hugs,

Patty

Friday 3/5 62 Degrees

March 5, 2010 08:56 by pphipps

Well guys it's been a couple of days since I blogged so I thought I'd sit down for a few minutes & update everyone on things in Florida.  As you can see our weather has warmed up a little (very little) and the sun is shinning so I guess I can't complain.  Pat & I have been busy with gym, doctors appointments, and errands in general.  He's getting ready to play a team racquetball tournament which starts tomorrow with Donnie one of his regular racquetball partners.  His neck is feeling better since he had some treatment done to it so I think he'll be fine.  You know Patrick he doesn't care if he wins or looses as long as he gets to play.  This is Donnie's first tournament but I know he'll do fine.

Dad is Dad, just sitting around reading & listening/watching TV.  Aside from that, nothing else new around here.  I promise to post after the weekend tournament is over & let you know how they did.  Enjoy your weekend hopefully you'll have some nice sunshine & a little warmer temps.

Hugs & Kisses,

Patty

3/3 Wednesday

March 3, 2010 07:30 by pphipps

Hey guys just a short note before Patrick & I dart out the door.  It's only 56 degrees but sunny, can't wait for the warmer temperatures which we're suppose to get late this weekend.  Aside from our regular gym adventure daily there isn't much going on.  Pat still has a terrible stiff neck but in a few minutes we're leaving so the acupunture specialist at our gym can give him some treatment.  He's trying to get ready for the racquetball tournament this weekend and his neck doesn't seem to be making much progress so it's treatment time.  Some of our fellow gym friends have utilized his services & are very pleased so we're both looking forward to the treatment hopefully he'll get some immediate relief.

Pat's working on a beautiful deep wooden vase I imagine it will be a couple of weeks before he gets to "cure" it but once it's done I'll be certain he takes pictures and we get them posted.  Aside from the wood work and keeping things going around the house nothing much is new for him either.  It seems like the days starts early and is over before you realize it.  Honestly as we get older I think the days get shorter.

Well, I think I'll close & change my top before we're ready to head out.  I'll blog again tomorrow.  Have a super duper night:)

Hugs & Kisses,

Patty

3/1 - Monday

March 1, 2010 08:57 by pphipps

Where the heck did February go?  I can't believe we're already into March and yes, Spring is approaching (and so is Pat's B-Day).  It's beautiful 69 degrees this early evening with only 30% humidity - WOW it's the kind of day you love being outside.  We started out the day at the gym and boy is the routine rough after missing two days last week but it is all worth it.  Once you get started time seems to fly and you're finished before you know it.  Pat's has had a stiff neck since last Thursday so his racquetball game was off and he got pounded by his opponents and partner with the ball but you guys know him, he's like an old Timex watch he takes the beatin and keep on tickin. I think that's how they said & spelled it:)

What a busy week, haircut tomorrow for Pat, doctor on Thursday for both of us, and I can't remember what's on the calendar for Friday.  I know this week will go quickly.  Tomorrow it is suppose to rain (again) but the weather is warm so I can tolerate the rain.  However, our cold weather (like yours) isn't over they are calling for colder temperatures beginning Wednesday but hopefully not as cold as it's been over the past couple of months.  I know we've broken records for temperatures and freezing weather so don't feel alone - we've had it also.

No special plans for dinner, I think Dad and I will have pasta with chicken and Pat will probably have a salad.  The weight competition is still on at the gym I don't think the final weigh-in is until April so this month is his last strict dieting month.  Once he posts pictures from our weekend trip you'll see the change in his weight - I definately think he's lost plenty I'm ready for the challenge to be over.  He hasn't weighed since the weigh-in so I have no idea how much he's lost but it's plenty.

Okay guys I'll call it quits and let the dogs outside.  Stay in, stay warm, and remember we love & miss you all.

Hugs,

Patty

Sunday - Home Again

February 28, 2010 10:05 by pphipps

WOW what a weekend in Orlando.  We started Friday early AM at the Colin Cowherd show at ESPN World of Sports at Disney.  All I can say is he does one heck of a show, during commercials he takes questions, takes photos, just a down to earth guy.  If you like Colin & his show ever comes to your area he is a must to see.  Pat will be posting some photos soon.  After the show we headed to downtown Orlando for the Nike Football Conference.  We had one packed weekend of classes, socializing, eating, etc. but it was well worth the trip.  Information galore, and go go go from one speaker to the next.  I learned things about football that I had never given thought to.  I'm really anxious for our kids football season to start I think it will be lots of fun - a reminder of MD for Patrick and the many many years he spent coaching there.

One of Dad's church friends, Joel, came to the house over the weekend and spent hours on end with Dad for us, many thanks to him and to Donnie from the gym for checking on Dad.  Dad had an uneventful weekend (thank God) and I know he was glad for us to come home.  We missed him & worried but the trip was a much needed pleasure even though it was a "working" pleasure.

Pat's back at the warehouse checking things out since we were gone.  I know everything is fine, but the check-in was in line for him.  I spent about an hour going through e-mail and still have messages to tend to.  What did we do before the computer????

Well guys just thought I'd drop a note and let everyone know we are home and doing fine.  I'll blog again tomorrow as I know I'll probably turn in early tonight.

Stay in, stay warm, & cuddle with your sweetie.

Hugs & Kisses,

Patty
