Guess what??? The "feels like" temperature is 102 degrees - it's 82 with 87% humidity - WOW I don't think it can get much hotter feeling this summer. We had early afternoon rain for about 30 minutes & all that did was spike the humidity & make it miserable outside. I need not mention that most of our daily activity involves inside definately not outside. However, Patrick is at the warehouse washing the dogs blankets but that won't take long because we can hang them on the fence to dry and that certainly won't take long. Hank has had a couple of rough days, his ability to hold his bladder isn't as good as it was, and he hates to have to get up to go outside. It seems like he gets thinner every day but he is continuing to eat good. We make our daily trip to McDonalds to get him either double cheeseburgers or chicken strips - no more dog food but he is still eating McDonalds. Abner is Abner no change in his attitude or his appetite although we do try to get him to eat wet dog food and very little McDonalds as he doesn't need to get any heavier. I think the last trip to the vet about a month ago he was 16.4 lbs - yep 16.4 he's a bit chunky:)
Dad is doing fine, reading & watching TV. His appetite has been a little down but I think that has to do with the temperatures we're having. None of us want to eat much of anything; I guess there is some good to the sweltering heat:):) Sure glad the lawn cutting is finished just in time for this round of hot weather. I know we usually cut it about every 10 days or so but at least we can do it in the early evening when the intent sunshine is gone. We've divided it into 3 cuts, the house, the warehouse, the swale & around the entire (11 acrea) perimeter. Both Patrick & I cutting is much better then one or the other, we can knock out one of the portions in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours so doing it over 3 days isn't to bad. Occasionally we do it in two days but with the heat intensifying 3 days is better then 2. If the rain holds off we can often go 14 days but this is our rainy season so it rarely doesn't rain even if its for 1/2 hour or so.
The garden is wonderful, can't wait for the tomatoes to start turning red. We ate some squash last night that I dipped in egg & lightly breaded in regular & panko bread crumbs seasoned with garlic & onion powder dusted with cayenne pepper and naturally I added about 4 of the cubanella peppers to the pan - oh my goodness it was wonderful thought of you guys as we ate it. The squash are so large that I only had to cut 1 of them along with 4 small peppers and we had plenty to eat. Sure wish we could share them with you guys. I imagine Franny has his garden planted and will have plenty of fresh produce before you know it. We miss our weekly delivery of fresh produce that he always made to us when we were in Bowie.
Well guys Pat is ready to head to McDonalds for our daily fetch so I'll close & get this posted. We love & miss everyone.
Kisses,
Patty
